My research interests center on technologies of writing. Although I am fascinated by the tools people use to write (e.g. MS Word, hypertext, keyboards, voice recognition, Moleskine notebooks, Fisher space pens, electric typewriters, tablet computers, and post-it notes), my research focuses primarily on the functional systems that tie people, technologies, discourse, institutions, and ecologies together.
