Interviewing Homework:

Due Nov 9th. Post to iLabs and bring in hard copy.

To encourage you to go back in the field, or at least revisit your fieldnotes in a detailed fashion, this assignment asks you to write up an interview in a thick and descriptive fashion. Use the advice given in Fieldworking, and the model provided by Rheingold. In other words, try to:

Provide details about the person, the surroundings.

• Give a sense of their language--the words they use and their speech patterns.
• Provide a sense of your own role in the interview.
• Organize the interview to align with your arguments, don't just default to writing it up the same way the discussion went down.

While this may seem involved for a homework assignment, consider it a draft of material that could end up in paper 4.

I'd like you to write at least 2 pages double-spaced, although feel free to write more if you'd like. Post to iLabs before class on the 9th, and bring in a hard copy for me to comment on.
