How does the researcher “position themselves” in the piece? What, specifically, do they say to tell readers about themselves and their initial ideas about their informants?
What was the researcher’s methodology? Did they visit the site multiple times, did they interview only informants associated with that site, or did they interview outside informants as well? How do they tell you about their methodology? Could they tell you more? Did you think their methodology was sound, or should they have done some things differently?
What analysis or interpretations does the research make? Do you think there should be more or less interpretation in the piece? Why?
In what ways might this be different than “traditional” ethnography (whatever you think that might be)? Why might the researcher have made decisions to make it “untraditional” rather than “traditional”?
